What’s it about?

All magnetic fields have a similar shape no matter what the size of the magnet. The earth is in fact also a massive magnet with its gigantic magnetic field wrapping from the north to the south pole. This is very similar to the simple magnetic field that surrounds a bar magnet as you will see in the following science experiment:

How does it work?

Unfortunately, this section is only available in the e-book version of the project.

Magnetic lines of force always come together at two points called ‘poles’. Even though scientists have long searched for exceptions, every magnet known to man has a north and a south pole and all magnetic fields resemble each other.

Like the sound of it?
