There are many ways to utilize the power of the wind or ‘moving air’. Over the years people have invented many different ways of catching the wind and utilizing its power to push boats along or drive machines, such as windmills. A windmill is a device which has been used since the seventh century to help humans to do work. In this science experiment you will find out more about the power of moving air by making your own toy windmill:

How does it work?
Unfortunately, this section is only available in the e-book version of the project.
This science experiment works because the kinetic energy of the moving air turns the blades of your windmill. If a ‘windmill’ would be connected to a device called an electric generator, the kinetic energy of the wind can be converted into electricity.
