What’s it about?

You can have a lot of fun by making a ‘sail’ boat that is invisibly driven by magnetic power. In this science experiment we will be making a boat that can ‘sail’ even when there is no wind power!

How does it work?

Unfortunately, this section is only available in the e-book version of the project.

A Magnet is a metal object that attracts pieces of ferrous (metal) objects. Magnets always have a north & a south pole and the opposite poles always attract each other while the same (equal) poles will repel each other. The metal nail in the boat’s mass is a ferrous object and is attracted to magnets. The attraction force of the magnet is powerful enough to move the boat but not powerful enough to let the boat sink.
