How does it work?

In this science experiment, a square part of the retina of your eye does not receive any colour other than red when staring intensely at the red square piece of paper. The nerve endings attached to the back of the retina get tired and do not respond to red anymore. The colour ‘white’ reflects all colours: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet and when looking at the larger white paper, your eyes see all colours except red, causing you to see a blue-green square after image.
