How does it work?

This science experiment works because the baking soda is a base and it reacts violently with the acid vinegar to produce carbon-dioxide foam. Due to the narrow opening of the bottle, the foam quickly rises to the top and shoots out, simulating the pressure and erupting power of a volcano.
